Vincent's Italian Cuisine

I read a bunch of good reviews which made me decide to eat at Vincent's Italian Cuisine. It was about what I expected-a decent Italian American experience.

The atmosphere here is typical Italian American. Red table cloths, wine bottles on the walls, and Frank Sinatra on the overhead speaker. Is it me or is every Italian restaurant that plays Frank filled with mediocre Italian food?

I started by looking at their lunch specials. Now I'm not cheap when it comes to food, but when I hear lunch special, I usually expect discounted special menus. There is no such thing as a discounted menu here. It will cost you $15-30 per person. So don't expect anything special price-wise from the lunch menu.

My meal included some generic chicken soup and a decent salad (not iceberg lettuce, thank God). So that's good. The pasta was a bit overcooked, but not horribly. The red sauce too was decent, but nothing to write home about. The eggplant parmasean once again reminded me of typical Italian American food. Decent. The espresso also was fine.

I guess I should disclaim that I've lived on and off in Italy since 1985. I love the country and the food. And there is a huge difference between Italian food and Italian American food. Vincent's Italian cuisine is Italian American and fairly decent Italian American food at that. In fact, if it wasn't so overpriced I would give it three stars (out of five), but alas the price is way too high for average food.
